Berkley's varsity boys soccer season is over.
The Bears lost 3-1 to Birmingham Seaholm in the MHSAA District 13 semifinal Monday, Oct. 19, at Troy High School. MaxPreps listed Berkley 9-5-6 overall and 2-4 in league play after the loss, according to its team schedule.
Seaholm, ranked fourth in Michigan by MaxPreps in its Oct. 20 recap, advanced to the district championship.
The matchup was a steep test for Berkley. Seaholm entered the semifinal off an 8-0 mercy-rule quarterfinal win over Detroit Renaissance on Thursday, Oct. 15, according to a SchoolKudos recap. In that game, the Maples scored seven goals before halftime, and the contest was halted by rule in the second half.
Berkley Athletics posted on X before the game: "GAMEDAY! Soccer plays Seaholm tonight in an MHSAA District Semifinal at Troy! Game time is scheduled for 7 PM."
MaxPreps listed the Bears with 32 goals scored and 26 allowed across 20 games this season. The site placed them fourth in the Oakland Activities Association’s Red Division.
Seaholm, coached by Greg Perkins, advances to the District 13 championship game. That final is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Troy High School, according to the host school’s tournament announcement.
