Berkley tap water may turn discolored Friday as city crews test hydrant flow.
The Berkley Department of Public Works announced Oct. 27 that it will update a state-required hydrant flow map from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
The work checks water pressure and flow for firefighting and removes sediment, including iron, from the system, according to the city’s notice.
That sediment can temporarily discolor tap water. The city said the water remains safe to use but recommended residents store water beforehand for drinking and washing dishes.
The notice includes a map showing areas where discoloration is likely throughout the day. The city does not expect water shutoffs but said they remain possible.
