Royal Oak Brewery is scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the downtown brewpub to celebrate what the Greater Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce describes as “30 years of business in Royal Oak.”
The Greater Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce lists the event at the brewery, 215 E. Fourth St., from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are asked to arrive by 11:45 a.m.
A 2015 Metro Times feature reported that the brewery opened in 1995 and celebrated its 20th anniversary that August. That would make 2026 its 31st anniversary year, though the chamber is framing the celebration around the 30-year mark.
Drew Ciora, identified as the owner in that report, and his wife, Michelle, moved from Southern California to open the 5,000-square-foot brewpub, renovating what was then a 90-year-old building on East Fourth Street, according to the 2015 Metro Times report. The report described it as the first craft brewery in Oakland County and the ninth in Michigan when it opened.
"The concept was so new to the area that people did not believe we made our own beer," Ciora told Metro Times in August 2015, when the brewery marked its 20th anniversary. "They thought the tanks were just for show."
In 2015, the brewery's then-general manager Stephanie Atias told Metro Times that multiple generations of the same families were coming through the doors, with guests saying their parents first brought them as children.
Dine Royal Oak describes the business as Oakland County’s oldest brewpub and says it serves seven to nine beers on tap daily, brewed on-site on a custom 14-barrel brewhouse.
