Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak was named among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care in Healthgrades’ 2027 awards.
The hospital’s Healthgrades profile also lists 2027 Cardiology Excellence and Coronary Intervention Excellence awards.
Healthgrades announced its latest recognitions Tuesday, Oct. 27. The company evaluated approximately 4,500 hospitals across 31 procedures and conditions, according to its announcement.
The evaluations examine clinical outcomes, including deaths and complications, using Medicare patient records from 2023 through 2025.
Specialty Excellence Awards recognize hospitals in the top 15% of eligible facilities in their specialties. Healthgrades also selects top-100 award recipients in 11 specialty areas and top-50 recipients in four areas. These distinctions recognize particular types of care rather than assigning hospitals one overall national rank.
Separately, Corewell announced in July that the Royal Oak hospital had performed what it described as the world’s first documented single-port robotic mitral valve repair.
“For two decades, we’ve worked to make heart surgery safer and less invasive,” Rakesh M. Suri, the hospital’s regional director of cardiac surgery robotics and innovation, said in the July 14 announcement.
Corewell said the operation used one robotic port and a second small access incision.
